About ABA Recs
ABA Recs organizes public Reddit discussions about ABA providers. The goal is not to replace a clinician, case manager, or school team. It is to make Reddit research faster to check.
Why Reddit
- Families already add Reddit to searches when they want less polished answers.
- The useful comments are scattered across local, parenting, and ABA subreddits.
- A page is only useful if readers can click the source and decide whether they trust it.
How it works
- Search Reddit for ABA provider threads and scrape public comments with source links attached.
- Extract provider mentions, location, use case, quote, sentiment, and whether the comment should count.
- Count provider sentiment separately from broader ABA model sentiment.
- Order providers by positive mention context and source volume, while keeping thin data clearly marked.
Subreddits followed
- r/Autism_Parenting, r/ABA, r/bcba, and local subreddits are used for independent parent and professional mentions.
- r/inhomeABAtherapy and r/BuddingFuturesABA are followed for in-home ABA and provider-side source extraction.
- Provider-authored posts can appear as source cards, but they are not counted as independent parent sentiment.
What gets held back
- Provider-side comments can be shown for context, but they do not count the same as parent comments.
- Negative named-provider claims need human review before they are used in public scoring or page summaries.
- Medical advice, diagnosis advice, and therapy-plan guidance stay out of the source pages.
- Providers should have a clear correction path for stale, misattributed, or unsupported claims.
